As a mom, I know that patience is something we all need to have more of and so do our kids too! I know you feel me! There are days when the house needs to be cleaned, and someone is calling for you, needing you, all while you’re trying to do something else that feels incredibly urgent to you. But before you snap…(I’m talking to myself) Pause…and allow GRACE to enter.
We gotta have grace with ourselves and with our kids, and they definitely need to learn to have grace with us too. We all need to realize that sometimes what we’re doing will never be as important as our children in that moment. And on the flip side, they need to have patience when we are simply not available at the moment. As moms, we also need to remember that children take more time to complete a task than we do (tying shoes, cleaning their rooms, etc!) but they too need to learn, just as we did.
Remember, your kids can’t read your mind, and this is where a lot of our frustrations can come from. We’ve all been there, but God graciously calls us to be patient. The moment will pass, but how we’re all left after feeling and learning from that experience will last in our hearts.
Do you think God is patient with you? Before you answer that, remember that He is a loving God—just as you are a loving mom. He is patient, which means He stays cool, calm, and collected even in those stressful moments when you want to pull your hair out. Sis, practice having grace with yourself and your kids this week. In the moments that could cause you to lose your cool, go to God. Pray for direction and ask what to do next. Remember, you were made for this journey and this very moment in motherhood. You got this!
”Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.“
1 Thessalonians 5:14 NLT
