My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. JOHN 10:27 ESV
Some of us know when God is talking to us, while others aren’t so sure. God has many different ways of talking to us; sometimes He speaks to us through others, or a sign on the side of the road, or through Scripture. God also guides us through His Holy Spirit, who dwells with us as our Comforter and Helper. It’s so important to start listening and tuning in to the way He is trying to reach us. Jesus said, “But when the Father sends the Comforter instead of Me—and by the Comforter I mean the Holy Spirit—He will teach you much, as well as remind you of everything I myself have told you” (John 14:26 TLB).
God has been talking to me for a while now. I have been praying and asking questions and working hard to reestablish the communication line between myself and my God. Now that I have quieted the voice of the enemy I am actually able to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit and walk in alignment with God’s will. Obedience is scary and comforting in a very complex way.
You may sense the Holy Spirit guiding you during your morning quiet time or maybe even when you’re taking a walk or doing the dishes. Remember, the Holy Spirit will never tell you to do anything that isn’t of God’s will. If you feel like you haven’t heard from the Holy Spirit, pray for God to reveal Himself to you and to heighten your spiritual senses so you can see and hear from Him today. When He speaks, He will get your attention. Oftentimes you can feel His power and authority, especially when He calls you to do something that makes you feel uneasy or uncomfortable. We have to be okay with surrendering and knowing that His plans are much greater than anything we could think for ourselves.
Today and everyday I pray that the Holy Spirit guide my walk and my work. That His will takes precedence over my life and that I abide in it. I pray that as you start a new week that you walk in alignment with your assignment too and that every challenge that you face you are confident because you have the Holy Spirit there to comfort and guide you! Even as a I face the challenges that come with communicating with Kai or getting her siblings to understand and accept her way of communicating and understanding, I have to lean on the Holy Spirit for guidance.
