April was a whirlwind. I am in awe of the blessings and depression that came as a result of the past 30 days. April 1 I attended the funeral of my dear friend and pastor, John Perkins. Shook is an understatement to describe how his death has impacted me. I still struggle to process it because who do I call when I have a spiritual or biblical question? But I’ve been pressing forward. April was filled with trials and triumphs.
May has come and now it’s time for the next chapter. The school year is coming to a close. All of my babies are transitioning to the next level. Kindergarten, middle school, and high school. Our lives are changing rapidly. Kids are growing up, hubby and I are evolving, and all around growth is on the horizon. I can feel it. But you know what…there’s something about the storm before the breakthroughs. Mon and I talked about it a few weeks ago on our Coffee and Cocktails IG live session.
I remember growing up and always hearing that “April showers bring May flowers!” Well, I’m ready for the flowers because April felt real storm-ish!
May is giving renewal, fresh start, ending, and conclusion vibes. I receive it. I receive all of the flowers that this month will bring. I am charged up and ready to celebrate Mental Health Month, Mother’s Day, graduations, transitions, birthdays (Zahra), and every other beautiful thing that was bloom after the storm. May is giving gratitude, grace, and favor energy and I welcome it all. May us giving healed, healing, healer energy and I embrace it.
What are you welcoming in for the month of May? Me? I welcome continued reflection, some serious self care (which includes finding a new therapist ASAP), and decluttering every possible facet of my life. I have some mental unpacking to do and with May being Mental Health Awareness Month, I believe the timing is perfect!
XOXO,
MichelleRena
