So as I continue to reflect on my own mental health and wellness and that of those around me I was reminded today by a colleague that everyone isn’t ready for therapy.
Some of us are just becoming comfortable talking to any one about the issues we face daily. Let alone being able to lay it all bare in therapy. So many of us, myself included, suffer in silence out of fear of being judged.
I’m an advocate for therapy but often find myself struggling to open up and it has become worse since I’m still in between therapists. Not having a safe place to vent and share can make a person feel alone in the fight. Even if that fight is within. Hell…especially if that fight is internal. So many of us are surrounded by people and still feel isolated and lonely.
I share this not to say that you or anyone else should open yourself up to be a venting board but instead to encourage you to be gentle with yourself and those around you because you have no idea what they may be going through in the same way that they have no idea what you’re going through.
We all need grace. We all need random acts of kindness. We all need to be welcomed with a smile and a gentle gesture. All of us.
I hope that someone made you feel loved and appreciated today. If not, I love you and I appreciate you for being here!
XOXO,
MichelleRena
